 Sawyer Lawson House Concerts

Thank you for checking out my house concerts page! I'm Sawyer Lawson, a folk-rock singer-songwriter from Cambridge, MA. I've played house concerts all over the country, from Boston to Austin to Anchorage, and I'm hooked on the concept. It's about connecting over music and friendship in the comfortable, intimate setting of someone's home. Take a look around and please get in touch if you're interested in hosting or just want to find out more.

What Hosts Say

"Sawyer has a way with music that pulls you in and brings you along for the ride. I have hosted house concerts for him twice and I cannot speak more highly of his ability to create a warm and welcoming musical world for my guests as he tailors the concert to his audience. I truly love his voice and the way songwriting relates to our life experiences. His shows are not to be missed and one of a kind!"

-Elisabeth (Lexington, MA)

"A house concert provides one of the most intimate, relaxed ways to experience live music.  In our case, in a cozy room with some of our closest friends, Sawyer filled the space with warm harmonies, performing straight from the soul. His versatility, whether singing, fiddling, or playing guitar and harmonica, is jaw-dropping. The arc of Sawyer’s performance left everyone in a golden glow, with full, happy hearts. He’s a terrific talent and a terrific guy!”

-Carolyn & Paul (Lincoln, MA)

"Hosting house concerts is such a wonderful way to experience music more intimately and build a personal connection with artists. We were thrilled to host Sawyer's house show at our funky apartment on Baker Street in San Francisco, and invited a mix of friends and acquaintances to hear him play. Not only was everyone blown away by the music, but Sawyer also invited some friends to hop up and play a couple of tunes with him. After the show, the whole crowd sat around the living room together sipping wine and having a big singalong with Sawyer to some of our favorite old songs. It was a magical evening."

-Marge (San Francisco, CA)

"It was so fun to host Sawyer for a house concert! What a great way to bring my friends and family together in a relaxed setting to hear some amazing music."

-Rose (Austin, TX)

"Hosting our first home concert was an unexpected pleasure and delight. Suggestions provided by Sawyer about how to proceed with success were informative and specific yet left room for creativity based on one's invitees. Our guests, who were across the age span, were thrilled by the accessibility of Sawyer's music and marveled at his unassuming manner and very big talent!"

-Sharon (Anchorage, AK)

"Love the house concert concept and that there is some time to chat afterwards as well. Everyone loved your music performance. I will be happy to refer you to friends ;) "

-Doris (Reading, MA)

  • All you need to host a show:

    • 1) 20 or so guests to attend (or more!)

    • 2) Space for me to play and for all guests to have a seat (I can bring some folding chairs if necessary)

  • There's no upfront cost for the host as these concerts are donations-based

  • Shows can be in living rooms, back yards, porches, anywhere!

  • Typical schedule:

    • 7pm- food/drink/socializing

    • 8pm- seated concert

    • 9pm- more socializing

  • Provide snacks and drinks if you like or else do it BYOB/pot luck style

  • Consider co-hosting with a friend- a great option if you have a good space for the show but aren't sure you can bring enough people or vice versa. You could also encourage your guests to bring their friends.

  • Geography doesn't necessarily need to be a barrier. I've played house concerts as far as Alaska, and will do my best to make it to your area.
